July 31st Exercise Update

Ok, doing this daily isn’t going to work but once a week or once every 2 weeks might be possible.

Only update is I’ve been able to run 1.5 miles twice now at a pace of 13min/mile. No signficate weight lose yet. I’m finding it hard not eating a huge dinner and the lack of late night snacks is driving me nuts… I need to buy alot more gum.

Exercise Log for July 21, 2009

It took me 30 minutes this morning to get moving and awake enough to get to the gym. Once there I did 2 miles on the treadmill with an avg of 16:20 per mile. I jogged 1/4 of the 2 miles. My goal is to eventual jog the whole 2 miles, but I am just starting and the whole not being able to breath and the racing heart rate is very annoying. Once I stop running my heart rate drops back to normal pretty fast so I know I’m just very very out of shape. I’m going to need to find a nice weight training program on the internet so I can work on my upper body strength and my hamstrings.

Stats for today (goal 200 lb and 38 in waist)
weight: 260lb
waist: 42 in

Disc 1 done

Ok, I think I’m done with disc one of the camp highlight video DVD, I’m going to need a 2nd DVD to include the Amazing Race and the messages preached by Pastor Mark Marbles of CO.

Hmm strange I’ve gone full screen not sure what keys I hit in the dark..

any ways… I’ve had a blast editing these videos.. It’s let me relive the camp experience again a few days later. I need to speak with Brandon before I try to post anything here… i know he wanted to put some of the videos up on the youth web page.

Well its late and I should be trying to think about sleep. Laters

What have I been up to

Well since school ended a month or so ago I’ve pretty much just been watching TV and playing a new MMORPG called Eve Online. I did start a new flower bed in my backyard but its pretty hot here so its on hold until cooler temperatures arrive.

Church camp was this week and I helped film all the activities. I wish camcorders where so easy to use back when I went to camp so I could watch them again. I’m glad I’m being able to help these teenagers capture this point in time.

New game eating my free time

Seems embeded ad campaigns work.  I clicked on the eveonline.com ads and ended up getting an account.  I’ve already been killed once and I wasn’t even trying to PvP.  I’m living now in more secure space and working on being a miner.  Once I can afford to lose ships I’ll check out 0.0 space.  if you are looking for a new online game join me.

Townhall for Hope

“I Choose Hope!

Tired of hearing the doom and gloom that’s filling the airwaves? Then turn off the noise, and tune in to hope! If you refuse to participate in the recession and reject the fear that’s being spread nationwide, then there are three things you can do to make a difference.” Townhall for hope or check out this link Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey hit a homerun with this event.  I disagree with his anti-credit card stand, because with out them I could not have gotten my master’s degree. (only have $2000 left to pay off on a 3.99% Chase Credit Card) So ignoring credit cards he made some really good points. One thing I did especially enjoy was the use of historical statistics to show that we are not in the worst recession ever.  I wish more media types would report this information.  I believe that fear is the enemy in our economy.  And the news outlets use fear to sell their shows/papers/magazines.  People get off the new media’s bandwagon and think for yourselves.  The soon we start doing that the sooner all those laid off workers will be able to get their jobs back.

Star Trek Movie

I hadn’t given much thought about the new Star Trek movie coming out in May, but I had a conversation after church yesterday with a few old friends and they seemed excited about it so I went on a search for spoilers/information. What I found was a nicely written review by a fellow Texan got was able to see the movie early. Here is a link to that review… Star Trek Review

My overall impression of the trailers and this guys review has me looking forward to this movie.  I’m a bit annoyed at the changes the director is making, but I can see why it would be hard to make a new movie based on all the material aready known in the Star Trek Universe.  Only Star Trek fans would be attracted to that film.  And yes it would make money, but might only be a one shot deal.  If JJ Abrams wants to make more movies something had to give. I hope the movie turns out to be rejuvenating to the Star Trek franchise. I really miss watching new STNG and Enterpise on TV.  The reruns help, but the new episodes were the best.

Uses of Twitter

This was one of the good ideas I probably never would have thought about, thanks Mr. Dvorak.

Twitter Witness = Twitness

The Twitness involves a few hundred Twitterers watching something such as the Academy Awards show, and tweeting about the show with all sorts of funny remarks about the clothes or the idiocies of the event. It turns something solitary like TV watching into an interactive, shared experience.

Too late

Well, I got home too late this evening to go for my walk.  This 2nd job is going to drive me nuts.  I guess I have to decide if I really want/need the extra money.
