Townhall for Hope

“I Choose Hope!

Tired of hearing the doom and gloom that’s filling the airwaves? Then turn off the noise, and tune in to hope! If you refuse to participate in the recession and reject the fear that’s being spread nationwide, then there are three things you can do to make a difference.” Townhall for hope or check out this link Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey hit a homerun with this event.  I disagree with his anti-credit card stand, because with out them I could not have gotten my master’s degree. (only have $2000 left to pay off on a 3.99% Chase Credit Card) So ignoring credit cards he made some really good points. One thing I did especially enjoy was the use of historical statistics to show that we are not in the worst recession ever.  I wish more media types would report this information.  I believe that fear is the enemy in our economy.  And the news outlets use fear to sell their shows/papers/magazines.  People get off the new media’s bandwagon and think for yourselves.  The soon we start doing that the sooner all those laid off workers will be able to get their jobs back.

Star Trek Movie

I hadn’t given much thought about the new Star Trek movie coming out in May, but I had a conversation after church yesterday with a few old friends and they seemed excited about it so I went on a search for spoilers/information. What I found was a nicely written review by a fellow Texan got was able to see the movie early. Here is a link to that review… Star Trek Review

My overall impression of the trailers and this guys review has me looking forward to this movie.  I’m a bit annoyed at the changes the director is making, but I can see why it would be hard to make a new movie based on all the material aready known in the Star Trek Universe.  Only Star Trek fans would be attracted to that film.  And yes it would make money, but might only be a one shot deal.  If JJ Abrams wants to make more movies something had to give. I hope the movie turns out to be rejuvenating to the Star Trek franchise. I really miss watching new STNG and Enterpise on TV.  The reruns help, but the new episodes were the best.

Got Audible book, ipod and Nike+ friendly

Well everything works like a charm the 2nd time.  I got the ipod to play the audible book I download.  I had to make a playlist from the audible book then everything was right as rain.  Walked for 31 minutes.. in the dark :/ but I still got it done.

Uses of Twitter

This was one of the good ideas I probably never would have thought about, thanks Mr. Dvorak.

Twitter Witness = Twitness

The Twitness involves a few hundred Twitterers watching something such as the Academy Awards show, and tweeting about the show with all sorts of funny remarks about the clothes or the idiocies of the event. It turns something solitary like TV watching into an interactive, shared experience.

Too late

Well, I got home too late this evening to go for my walk.  This 2nd job is going to drive me nuts.  I guess I have to decide if I really want/need the extra money.

Audible and Nike+

Well, I didn’t get any credit for my walk today because Nike+ seems to only work with playlists and I hadn’t set my audible book into a playlists.  Problem is solved for tomorrow.  I hope. 😉

Spring Break Begins

Well, I had alot of outside work planned for the beginning of the week; however, it seems the weather is going to against me.  I really, really, really hate digging in the mud so my grandmother’s sprinklers will have to remain broken until the weather drys up.

I started working out with My Fitness Coach on the Wii.  Nothing special about the game on this console, but at least the exercise routines are routines unlike the Wii Fit.  I’m looking forward to seeing how the new EA Sports Active works with the Wii Balance Board.  In more Wii video game news, seems there will be a new Resident Evil game look on ign.com for more information. Darkside

Thats all for now… need to finish a few quests in LotR before the TWC repairman arrives to fix my cable cards.
